Repositioning of the BMS Polycarbonate Business Unit

Bayer MaterialScience selected SpiessConsult based on their pitch as the supporting agency in the global repositioning of the Semi-Finished Products division.

The agency’s task was the consistent positioning worldwide as well as the standardization of communications for Bayer’s polycarbonate sheet business based on the well-known material Makrolon. In 2011, total sales in the polycarbonates segment of Bayer MaterialScience amounted to € 2.9 billion.

Based on an extensive worldwide analysis of the previous strategy and marketing materials as well as individual discussions, SpiessConsult supported the responsible team at Bayer MaterialScience in the implementation of the new brand strategy, in which local and regional marketing requirements were taken into account. The new brand also has the goal of elucidating the performance of BMS in large-scale architectural projects such as sports stadiums, large buildings and infrastructure projects.

To make the daily work of the Bayer MaterialScience staff responsible for communications around the globe as simple and cost-effective as possible, design templates for all print materials were made available on Bayer’s electronic brand management platform.
